Luke and I welcomed a 15 pound Jack Russel Terrier mix into our family. We got him on Tuesday early evening from the Paws and Claws adoption humane society type place. He cost $155 when it was all said and done. He was neutered in April, has all his shots, liscences etc. Kaiser was his name from the shelter and Luke and I thought it was quite clever so we kept it!
I have been home with Kaiser the most (as Luke has been working long hours d/t a co worker injury) and working on sit command and desensitizing him to the brush and being picked up. He kind of runs away when he knows you want to pick him up. I find that he only follows the sit command when I'm near the kitchen island, because that is where his reward treats are.

Kaiser is a pretty good dog. He doesn't really play with toys- they must be beneath him. He doesn't chew or dig in the garbage (YET) or whine for food (he does hang around the kitchen when he knows you are eating). He only has barked when we go outside. He barked at our neighbor Victor when he was clear across the street. He also barked at a lady on our walk once. But was quiet yet interested when he heard neighbor dogs barking. I think he's pretty good playing with other dogs, we have yet to see that for ourselves.
Kaiser sleeps on a few cheap small Ikea pillows in a mismatched pillowcase upstairs, a folded up blaknet in the basement, in his kennel last night, and in my lap. He likes to be scratched on his tummy. He also likes to leap furniture. He jumped right over a small end table that we have, then ran and jumped up the back of our club chair and almost over the buffet table behind it. That is the end of that, let me tell you. We are trying to have Kaiser "ask" to jump up in laps.
It doesn't feel like he is our dog yet. We are happy to have him. He's a good dog!
